Hammer killer gets life term
First Edition
A FACTORY supervisor was jailed for life yesterday for battering a younger rival to death with a hammer.
Steven Curtis, 42, of Corsham, Wiltshire, was found guilty by a jury at Bristol Crown Court of murdering Jason Price, 21, before burying him in a prepared woodland grave.
The court was told that Curtis was jealous of Mr Price, who moved in with his former girlfriend in September last year, and lured him to a secluded spot where he hit Mr Price at least 10 times with a ball hammer, crushing his skull. He then dragged the body to a nearby copse to roll it into a prepared grave. Within an hour he was drinking with friends at a pub.
