Bradford girl death: Mother arrested after two-year-old daughter 'falls from house'
Woman found with child remains in a critical condition in hospital
A 36-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of her two-year-old daughter who died after a fall from a house in Bradford, West Yorkshire Police said.
The girl and the woman were found unconscious outside an address in Delamere Street at around 9.15am yesterday.
Both were taken to hospital after they were found at the back of the property in Bradford, but the child died a short time later.
The woman remains in hospital, where she is in a critical condition.
Police said a postmortem was carried out last night which revealed the girl died of injuries consistent with a fall.
Labour Councillor for Sher Khan Little Horton who lives nearby told The Bradford Telegraph & Argus that he had been told the little girl had plunged from the upstairs window of a terraced house.
He said the incident had shocked the close-knit community, adding: "Apparently, the woman had recently moved from somewhere else – another city – to this area.
"My understanding is that nobody knew her that well. It's unbelievable.
"Everyone is so shocked."
Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
Detective Chief Inspector Jon Morgan, said:"We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident, but are appealing for anyone with information to contact the police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111."
