With two disappointing summers behind us, members of the public are making the most of the sunshine as they take time out to enjoy the hot weather.

There have been concerns about the heatwave as The Met Office raised its alert level to 3 out of a possible 4 for London and the South East.

Temperatures are set to reach at least 32C - and although we're unlikely to reach the record for this time of year which was 36C in both 1976 and 2003 - the average temperature for this time is around 23C.

The Environment Agency has warned that certain areas are to be hit by flash floods and as it's unlikely the weather will stay as hot over the weekend, people are taking every opportunity to bask in the sunshine while it lasts.
