British airline stewardess Evelyn Clarke dies after falling from high-rise building in Dubai

A British airline stewardess has fallen to her death from a high-rise building in the United Arab Emirates city of Dubai.

Evelyn Clarke, originally from Ayrshire in Scotland, is believed to have died of multiple injuries after falling from the tower block following an evening out.

According to reports, the 30-year-old - who worked mainly for the Emirates airline - was not suffering any personal problems prior to her death, and Dubai police are not believed to be investigating the incident as a suicide.

A spokesman for the Foreign Office told Scotland’s Evening Times: “We can confirm the death of a British national on April 7 in Dubai. We are providing consular assistance.”

Police are said to be interviewing the last people to see Ms Clarke alive, although there was no comment on the circumstances of her death, or whether anyone else may have been involved.

A Facebook page has appeared in acknowledgement of Ms Clarke’s death, where friends and colleagues have posted tributes to her. So far the page has amassed over 700 ‘likes’.

Natalie Gibson said: “Sometimes things knock you for 6, another beautiful person taken from us, sleep peacefully sweetheart.”

Jamie Senadhira wrote: “Such sad news today hearing of the loss of Evelyn Clarke - you will be missed - far to [sic] young to leave us #RIP”

Laura Kelly, added: “RIP Evelyn Clarke, such sad news. Your (sic) with the angels now xx”

The Evening Times reported another friend as posting a picture on the page with an accompanying message that read: “This is the way Evelyn looked at life, always smiling, always happy…She wanted to travel the world and see as much as possible, she couldn't get enough of it”.

The message went on: “Her positive attitude and energy could light up the whole sky…Those who have met her will never forget her.“

Ms Clarke’s death comes less than a month after another British woman fell to her death from a high rise building in Dubai.

Abbie Emmett, of Addlestone in Surrey, died just days into her honeymoon following a wedding in South Africa.

The 27-year-old is believed to have accidentally fallen from an open window.
