Three women have been rescued from a car after it dived 30ft over a cliff in Kent.

One man and four women were inside the car when it plunged over a cliff on Cliff Road, in Birchington, Kent, just after 9pm on Saturday night.

The vehicle landed on its roof, Kent Fire and Rescue services said, with three of the women trapped inside.

The man and one woman were able to get out of the car, while firefighters were forced to use cutting gear to free the three trapped women.

After being treated at the scene, the women were taken in an ambulance to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.

The road was closed for over two hours while emergency services were on the scene.

Kent police said the women’s injuries were not life-threatening, and that inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are on-going.
