A father who had been fighting depression killed himself while on a family getaway after witnessing the accidental death of his wife four days earlier, orphaning the couple's children.
An inquest at Trowbridge Coroner's Court was told Roger Lamb, 47, was said to have had mental health problems.
His wife Mathilde, 43, was reported to have fallen 60ft to her death in Morocco in August last year after leaning out of a window when she was disturbed by noise below. Coroner David Ridley said there was no evidence to suggest foul play, anything suspicious or any third-party involvement.
Mr Lamb initially tried to drown himself in a harbour following the tragedy, but was rescued by local men. His children said Mr Lamb's mood had picked up when they moved to different accommodation in the wake of their mother's death. But the alarm was raised when Mr Lamb failed to meet them for breakfast four days later.
Hotel staff said he had fallen from the first floor. He suffered serious head injuries and died the following day. Coroner David Ridley he "took his own life while suffering from depression".Reuse content
