Father-to-be Mark Williams Jacka killed himself after struggling to fill in benefit forms
Mr Jacka became upset when he had to borrow money from his girl friend
An unemployed father-to-be took his life after he struggled to fill in his benefit forms correctly, an inquest has heard.
Mark William Jacka, 26, became distressed after he was forced to borrow money from his pregnant girlfriend Erin Weston, when he found it difficult to claim benefits.
Mr Jacka then tragically hanged himself a day after he visited the Job Centre, the inquest heard.
Coroner Peter Brunton recorded a verdict of suicide, and said: “He was not well, but was stressed about completing forms promptly.
"These are very sad circumstances and I can only offer my profound sympathy to his family," he told the court, according to the Mirror.
Just weeks before his death, Mr Jacka expressed his excitement that his girlfriend was expecting a baby, by sharing a scan of his unborn baby with family and friends on Facebook.
Ms Weston told the inquest that her boyfriend had said he was feeling unwell and threatened to end his life “quite a few times” in text messages and over Facebook, and so she hadn’t taken his last message “seriously.”
On 10 February last year, Ms Weston became worried when she was unable to contact her boyfriend for around 24 hours, and phoned the police, Cambrian News reported.
Officers later found Mr Jacka’s body at his home after they were forced to break in.
His mother, Pamela Jacka, told the court her son had made plans for the future, and hoped to start his own painting and decorating business.
