After a year in which her reporting from the uprisings in Libya and Egypt has enhanced Alex Crawford's reputation as a fearless foreign correspondent, the Sky News journalist said she was "staggered and honoured" to have been appointed OBE.
A three-time winner of the Royal Television Society's Journalist of the Year award, she has previously joked that she only required one more prize to have one for each of her four children. Crawford, 49, said the honour was recognition of the work of her colleagues. "It's a genuine team effort," she said.
The journalist and author Clive James, left, is created CBE.
Peter Bazalgette, best known for bringing the TV series Big Brother to the UK, is knighted for services to broadcasting.
