From maggots in bins to contraception queries: The most ridiculous calls made to the emergency services

 

While most people call the emergency services only when faced with perilous life-threatening situations, some just haven't got the idea.

Following on from the man in the Midlands who called the police to report his driving instructor for turning up late, the Greater Manchester Police has released a compilation of the most bizarre calls made to them.

The recordings include one person calling the police to complain about maggots in their bin and another asking about contraception pills. Despite the odd non-emergency questions, the service operator remains calm and seemingly unfazed by the call.
