Detectives renew appeal for help identifying suspect in 'extremely serious' attack

Police have released new CCTV footage of a man seen talking to a woman moments before she was raped.

Detectives are investigating a rape which happened in a house in Ordsall, Salford, in the early hours of the morning on 30 April.

But after extensive enquiries, Greater Manchester Police have been unable to identify the suspect and are renewing the appeal.

Officers previously released CCTV images of the man talking to and holding the victim hours before she was attacked.

They have now released new CCTV footage of the same man outside The New Union pub on Canal Street, moments before he was then pictured speaking to the victim.

The woman, who is in her forties, was attacked in the Ordsall house after leaving the pub at around 4.15am.

She left the address in Ordsall at about 5.45am and walked a short distance before knocking on a door of a house to ask for help.

A man answered and called her a taxi which took her back to the Fallowfield area.

Detective Constable Julie Tsang, from GMP's Salford Borough, said: "We have trawled through all available CCTV and have followed extensive enquiries.

"This is an extremely serious offence and despite everything we have done so far, we have not yet been able to speak to the man in the footage.

"We need to speak to him and, as you can see from the CCTV, a lot of people were outside the bar at the same time as this man.

"If you were one of these people, then please contact us as you may have vital information about him.

"If you think you recognise him, or know a friend who was there at the time and who looks similar to this man, then please also get in touch. It doesn't matter how trivial the information is, it could be crucial to finding the answers this victim deserves.

"I would also like to appeal directly to the man. If this is you, I would urge you to call police immediately."
