Passengers at Manchester Airport will be met by holograms of staff from next week in a bid to reduce security queues.

Images of customer service staff John and Julie were made by the firm which brought the animated band Gorillaz to life on stage. Recordings of employees John Walsh and Julie Capper will appear as travellers enter the Terminal 1 security search area. They will explain liquid restrictions and tell passengers to have boarding cards ready.

Julie Armstrong, customer services director at the airport, said: "We are always looking for new ways to improve customers' experience."
