'Ultimate package holiday' features 'bucket list' tour of almost 1,000 of the world’s most famous tourist sites

Travel agents are no strangers to hyperbole, often labelling trips 'the holiday of a lifetime', or the 'ultimate package holiday'.

In the case of a new trip on offer one company may have their claims just right.

For nearly one million pounds adventurous travellers can get a remarkable tour of 1,000 of the world's greatest tourist sites.

The holiday, which costs £990,000 and lasts two years, includes business or first-class travel on all flights and stays in some of the world's most famous luxury hotels, such as the Hotel George V in Paris, The Plaza in New York, the Ritz-Carlton in Moscow and the Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai.

Lasting two years the trip will include visits to Egypt’s pyramids, the Great Wall of China, Easter Island, Machu Pichu, Notre Dame Cathedral, and the Vatican City.

The cost also includes a £5,000 donation to Unesco.

In the UK, travellers will visit 28 World Heritage Sites, among which are Stonehenge and the Tower of London.

In Wales the trip will also include visits to Blaenavon’s industrial landscape, the Pontcysyllte aqueduct and canal in Wrexham and the castles and town walls of King Edward in Gwynedd.

Andrew Barker, managing director of Kensington-based Hurlingham Travel, told the Evening Standard: “This is certainly the most exciting trip we have ever organised and is the most remarkable travel adventure imaginable.”

The trip is likely to take in over 150 countries while visiting every single Unesco World Heritage Site. However, the website 'VeryFirstTo', which is currently selling the holiday, states that 'Only destinations that are safe and pragmatic to visit will be featured'.

Some sites, including those in Afghanistan, Iraq and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, are likely to prove too dangerous to tick off.

The Foreign Office currently advises against travelling to a number of World Heritage Sites, such as Leptis Magna in Libya, Aleppo, Pasargadae in Iran and the capital of Yemen, Sana’a.

The trip is just the latest luxury travel adventure offered by 'VeryFirstTo.com' which has previously offered a trip into space costing £69,000 and the chance to be woken up surrounded by more than one million rose petals for £70,000.
