Manchester attack: Polish couple killed in blast were collecting daughters from Ariana Grande concert

Polish Foreign Minister confirmed the couple’s two girls are safe

A couple from Poland named as victims in the Manchester attack were killed as they waited to collect their daughters from the concert, the country’s foreign minister has said.

Angelika and Marcin Klis died when a suicide bomber detonated a device as crowds were leaving an Ariana Grande gig.

Details of their deaths emerged as the names of several other victims of Monday’s attack were confirmed by police and grieving family members.

Polish Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski said the couple’s two girls were safe after the explosion that left 22 dead and 64 injured.

He told a Polish radio station: “The parents came after the concert to collect their daughters and unfortunately we have information that they are dead.

“The children are safe.”

Another Polish citizen was wounded in the attack and has undergone surgery in a hospital. He is a father but no further details about his identity have been released.

A spokesman for the country's foreign ministry said: “at least two people have died and one person has been injured" but did not confirm any further details.

On Tuesday, York College student Alex Klis said she was looking for her parents Angelika and Marcin, who had been missing since the attack.

“Anyone who is in any safe place or hospital in Manchester, if anyone comes across my parents please please let me know as they've been missing ever since the attack,” the 20-year-old wrote on Facebook.

The couple are understood to also have another daughter, Patricia, 12.

Angelika and Marcin are among 12 victims to be confirmed as dead after the Manchester Arena terror attack.

Two of the first victims to be named were eight-year-old Saffie Roussos from Leyland and Georgina Callander, 18, from Chorley.

John Atkinson, 28, and Kelly Brewster, 32, were also killed in the blast.

Family members said that Alison Howe, 45, from Royton, Greater Manchester, and her friend, Lisa Lees died in the attack, and the mother of Olivia Campbell, 15, from Bury, wrote on Twitter that the teenager had also died.

Throughout the day on Tuesday, several other names were revealed by families and the police as having been caught up in the attack.

​Martyn Hett, 29, was confirmed as dead by his boyfriend, Russell Hayward, who tweeted: “We got the news last night that our wonderful, iconic and beautiful Martyn didn’t survive.”

Michelle Kiss, a 45-year-old woman from Lancashire, mother-of-three Jane Tweddle, 51, and 14-year-old Nell Jones were among those named as victims.

Greater Manchester Police also confirmed one of those who died in the blast was an off-duty policewoman.

Her identity has not been revealed but her husband and children were reportedly injured in the explosion.

Fears are growing for Chloe Rutherford, 17, and Liam Curry, 19, a couple from South Shields, Philip Tron, 32, Eilidh MacLeod, 14, Courtney Boyle, 19, and Wendy Fawell, 50.

All were believed to have been at the concert and have not been traced since the attack.
