A maternity ward was sealed off yesterday after two babies and a mother developed a skin infection.

Luton and Dunstable Hospital in Bedfordshire contained the outbreak of Staphylococcus aureus, which can cause pneumonia and meningitis, by putting the babies in isolation. Two other children were found with the infection. The hospital said all five were expected to make a full recovery.
