An 82-year-old man was left injured after a "sickening" attack on his own doorstep in Camden, central London, police have said.

A man followed the pensioner into his building and up in the lift before pinning him to the ground and stealing £100 and a number of bank cards.

The victim was unable to get up but helped by neighbours who found him several minutes after the attack, which took place in Kilburn High Road at 9.30pm on 13 February.

He suffered injuries to his back and hip but did not require hospital treatment.

Police have released an image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the attack.

Detective Constable Brett Jones, the investigating officer, called the incident a "pernicious and sickening attack".

"We need the public's help to apprehend this suspect before further crimes are committed on elderly members of the community," he said.
