Playgirl chasing Iris Robinson's lover, Kirk McCambley, to be a nude centrefold

The 21-year-old cafe owner, Kirk McCambley, whose illicit affair with Iris Robinson made headlines across the world, has been inundated with lucrative offers to kiss and tell – and strip off.



And now one of the world’s biggest adult magazines is hoping to persuade Kirk to strip for a raunchy photoshoot to go in its next edition.



The US-based quarterly magazine Playgirl, which famously offered Prince Charles $45,000 to pose nude, wants Kirk for a spread in its March issue.



Meanwhile, speculation is mounting that chat show queen Oprah Winfrey is keen to interview Iris Robinson about the sex and politics scandal which has been likened to 60s Hollywood film The Graduate.



Mrs Robinson, who is currently having acute treatment for depression, has not yet spoken publicly about the affair with Kirk McCambley.



Playgirl magazine, which also has an online publication, was re-launched last December with a naked feature on Levi Johnston, the father of Sarah Palin’s grandchild, and according to Daniel Nardicio, director of marketing at Playgirl, it helped propel him into superstardom.



Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph from his studio in New York, Mr Nardicio said Kirk was “perfect” for their readership.



“He’s Irish, he’s good looking and the toppling of a political dynasty is just great,” he said.



“We re-launched the magazine last December with the Levi Johnston shoot. Kirk McCambley would be a great follow up to that. It’s a fantastic story, it’s interesting and he is very attractive. He fits into what we are trying to do with Playgirl.”



Playgirl magazine began in 1973 as a feminist reaction to the men’s erotic magazine Playboy but now boasts a devoted following of women and gay men.



While he would not disclose any sum to be paid to Kirk, Mr Nardicio claimed Playgirl would “make it worth his while”.



He added: “We ended up making Levi Johnston even more of an icon than he was. He was on every major news network in America after our shoot. With Kirk it could be the same.



“I would love to come to Ireland to do the shoot but it probably would be more cost-effective to have him fly over here rather than send all our people over there.



“We would hope to get in touch with him as soon as possible to get him into our March issue. We can offer him a fair bit of money.”



Since news of his affair with 60-year-old Mrs Robinson was splashed across every newspaper in the country, Kirk, who has not been seen at his riverside cafe in over a week, has become an unlikely gay icon.



Mrs Robinson, a devout Christian, had been conducting the extra-marital affair during the summer of 2008 while making a series of homophobic comments in the media.



Last week it was revealed the UK’s best-selling gay magazine Attitude has also been trying to coax Kirk into posing nude on the front cover of its next edition.
