Travellers on busy rail routes to and from London faced cancellations and delays today after a lorry struck a rail bridge.

With the vehicle still wedged under the bridge near Borough Green and Wrotham station in Kent, services run by the Southeastern train company were disrupted.

Buses replaced trains between Otford and Ashford in Kent, while a shuttle service ran between Maidstone East and Ashford.

Other services between London and Sevenoaks in Kent were diverted.
