Richmond tops the list for life expectancy in England
A report from the Office for National Statistics has revealed the places with the highest and lowest life expectancy in England

People in the London borough of Richmond upon Thames live the longest in England, according to figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
Men living in the suburb have a healthy life expectancy (HLE) of 70.3 years while women have a HLE of 72.1 years. Other places in the top five included Wokingham in Berkshire, South Gloucestershire and Buckinghamshire.
The research found that on average those living in the South had a higher life expectancy than those living in the North.
The ONS also revealed the places in the England with the lowest life expectancy. Men in Manchester have a HLE of 55 years, while women in the London borough of Tower Hamlets have one of 54.1 years.
There were varying differences in life expectancy within individual regions, the region with the greatest inequality in life expectancy is London. In Tower Hamlets the average life expectancy for women is 54.1 years compared to females in Richmond which is 72.1 years.

Places men have the lowest life expectancy:
1. Manchester - 55 years
2. Blackpool - 55.1 years
3. Knowsley - 55.5 years
4. Tower Hamlets - 55.7 years
5. Leicester - 55.9 years
Places where women have the lowest life expectancy:
1. Tower Hamlets - 54.1 years
2. Manchester - 55.4 years
3. Newham - 55.7 years
4. Tameside - 56.8 years
