Royal christening: Rich and famous among Prince George's seven godparents
Show all 2The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have named Zara Tindall and six close friends as the godparents of their son George, ahead of his baptism this afternoon.
The three-month-old Prince and future head of state will be baptised by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Rev Justin Welby, in the Chapel Royal at St James's Palace this afternoon.
Lambeth Palace released a video yesterday of Mr Welby discussing the "hugely important" baptism of Prince George, which he hoped would inspire others.
The prince's seven godparents include William and Kate's former private secretary Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, who continues to serve part-time as their principal private secretary and equerry.
In a statement, Kensington Palace said the other godparents are Oliver Baker, Emilia Jardine-Paterson, Earl Grosvenor, Julia Samuel and William van Cutsem.
Guests expected to attend the private ceremony will include the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry, Kate's parents Carole and Michael Middleton and her siblings James and Pippa Middleton.
