Tiverton Christmas lights: Devon display 'looks like pants'

'They’re Father Christmas’s sparkly pants and they’re great'

The town of Tiverton, Devon, recently unveiled its Christmas lights, but they're rather more risqué than the council originally intended.

In fact, the giant, sparkly, string lights, which are reported to have cost £15,000 and will remain in place for the next three years, look more like giant underwear than Christmas puddings.

The town’s Committee chair Sue Griggs told the BBC, “They’re Father Christmas’s sparkly pants and they’re great.

“We picked them because they’re nice and festive, and we liked the shapes. Then people started saying that they resemble pants, which they do.”

The lights were met with a mixed reception on social media.

Nothing says Happy Holidays! quite like these sparkly green knickers lighting up a street in Tiverton, Devon.
