Two dead and six injured after minibus and lorry crash near Burton-on-Trent

Two people have been killed and six left injured after a crash between a lorry and a minibus in the West Midlands.

The accident happened on the A511 at Tutbury in Staffordshire, near Burton-On-Trent, just before 7am this morning.

Three ambulances and emergency crews attended the scene of the accident.

The two people who died were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Those who were injured have been taken to two separate hospitals, in Nottingham and Burton.

“Despite the intervention of ambulance crews, two patients were confirmed dead at the scene,” a West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said.

“A man in his 20s was taken to Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham, with serious head injuries. The patient was sedated by medics before being conveyed by land ambulance.

“A further male was treated for chest pain and was taken to Queen's Hospital in Burton.

“Four patients were assessed at the scene for minor injuries and were later taken to Queen's Hospital in Burton for further assessment and treatment.”
