Two police officers have been taken to hospital after their patrol car overturned as they responded to a 999 call reporting disorder outside a pub.

West Midlands Police said the female officers escaped serious injury in the incident in Wolverhampton city centre at about 9.20pm last night.

The patrol car overturned near the junction of Snow Hill and Ring Road St George's after colliding with a Fiat Punto, whose occupants did not require hospital treatment.

Chief Inspector Neil Hobson said: "We have already spoken to a couple of witnesses and are currently identifying CCTV cameras which may have captured the incident, but we are still keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and either witnessed the crash or saw the vehicles just before."

Anyone with information which may aid the inquiry should call police on 101.
