A team of adventurers including Prince Harry have returned from the North Pole after taking part in a charity expedition.

The Walking with the Wounded team came back to the UK after completing their trek across the frozen wastelands of Antarctica.

Team UK was made up of four British soldiers injured in combat and the Prince. They were competing against American and Canadian teams.

Captain Ibrar Ali said: "It's amazing to be back, especially just in time for Christmas and with a five-year-old daughter. It's all a bit surreal still, having gone from Antarctica to Cape Town to back to the UK."

"It was much more physically and mentally gruelling than I thought it would be."

He went on to say: "It was much, much harder than anyone thought it would be. I would suggest that he [Prince Harry] is one of the strongest members of the team, not because we've got the disabilities or the amputations, but just because of his enthusiasm and the way he approached everything was just so wonderful."

"He was always there to help if needed be but he was also not afraid to ask for help if he needed it, it's a tough old journey. That's why it was a team event not an individual event."
