Wildfire at largest UK cemetery
Wednesday 28 March 2012
Britain's largest cemetery was ablaze yesterday as "tinder-box dry conditions" sparked wildfires.
The fire started at 2pm at the 500-acre Brookwood Cemetery near Woking in Surrey. The cause is not yet known but Fire Service manager Alan Clark blamed dry conditions.
The cemetery was laid out in 1854 as the London Necropolis.
