A woman and her two sons were killed in a car crash yesterday in the Scottish Highlands.

Three vehicles, including a 4x4, were in collision on the A95 just north of Aviemore, in Invernesshire. The mother, 36, and the boys, aged 13 and 11, were travelling in the same car. Police, who are appealing for witnesses, said they were investigating the causes of the accident. The pile-up blocked the road in both directions, and diversions were set up. The Scottish Ambulance Service said three ambulances and a helicopter had attended the crash.
