Scott Young, seven, suffered serious leg and head injuries when he was hit by a joyrider travelling at 70mph in a stolen car on a school crossing in South Shields, Tyne and Wear.

Seven other children were pushed out of the way by a crossing warden. The driver sped off despite other motorists' efforts to stop him. A witness said he was laughing and 'didn't seem to be bothered one little bit'.
