A letter bomb addressed to Terry Wogan was intercepted by a member of BBC staff yesterday, corporation sources said.

The parcel, which Scotland Yard linked to an earlier device sent to the insurance company Direct Line, also contained a note which included the words 'rich bastards', according to one report. The note suggests the target of the Direct Line bomb was the firm's chief executive Peter Wood.
