Man wins damages for arrest
A teenager unlawfully arrested and assaulted by police was yesterday awarded damages of pounds 13,750 against the Chief Constables of Humberside and Lincolnshire.
Richard Plange, 19, of Scunthorpe, was arrested in an assault inquiry in front of 4,000 fans at a Scunthorpe v Hull City football match in 1989, when he was 16, Grimsby county court heard. He was held for more than two hours before his alibi was confirmed.
