Marathon rider
Peter Scudamore, the former champion jockey, broke a 162-year-old record by riding 200 miles in 8 hours 37 minutes. He completed the ride, at Newmarket, in five minutes less than George Osbaldeston, a Yorkshire squire, who set the record in 1831. It raised pounds 20,000 for the Animal Health Trust charity. Fifty horses were used.
