A businessman was jailed for five years at Oxford Crown Court for a pounds 43m mortgage fraud which deprived investors of their life savings. As chairman of Castlegate Group Holdings and Castlegate Securities, based in Reading, Berkshire, Roy Wharton, 61, of Yateley, Hampshire, lent money from private investors to people wanting second mortgages for home improvements.
