THE PARENTS of a British nurse learnt from a television news bulletin that she had been shot dead by terrorists who raked a tourist bus with gunfire in Egypt.

John and Sheila Hill heard that a Sharon Hill of Gloucester had been killed in Egypt. They rang Gloucester police, who confirmed it was their daughter. A friend, Paul Sargent, said: 'It is totally disgusting that someone in authority saw fit to tell the media Sharon had been killed before informing the family. They will want to ask some searching questions about the way the information was given out.'

Two Britons, Michael Simmons and David Wilson, were injured.
