Police pay-out
A man who alleged he was falsely imprisoned and assaulted by Metropolitan Police officers in October 1987 was paid out-of-court damages of pounds 10,000. Simon Coley, 23, of Barnes, south-west London, was flung to the ground and beaten by officers who thought he was an escaped prisoner, Croydon County Court was told.
