A policeman stole three shotguns from his police station so that he could go clay pigeon shooting, magistrates in Crawley, West Sussex, were told.

Peter Holliday, 29, of Haywards Heath, admitted taking the guns, which had been handed in by a man who did not want to renew his shotgun certificate. Magistrates adjourned the case for reports before sentencing Holliday, who had already resigned from the force.
