Applicants fight 'cyber attacks' in GCHQ jobs contest

It is a job interview with a difference: the Government's electronic intelligence unit, GCHQ, is holding a competition to find talented hacking experts with a view to taking them on as staff.

The agency has set up a series of drills replicating cyber attacks on a government network. Those taking part in the competition, called Balancing the Defence, will need to "manage the risks posed by attacks from hostile states, organised criminal cyber gangs or even individual hackers to a simulated government IT system", the agency said.
