Crusading peer dies at 78

Labour peer Lord Corbett of Castle Vale, who was prominent in the campaign to secure anonymity for victims of rape, died yesterday aged 78. He had been suffering from cancer.

A leading figure on the Commons Home Affairs Select Committee, he was a Labour Party Whip from 1984-1987 and became a life peer in 2001.
