The Green Party have hit out at their continued exclusion from the leader debates with a new poster that boldly asks: “What are you afraid of boys?”

The poster shows Green party leader Natalie Bennett and Caroline Lucas MP stood side by side as they challenge broadcasters to invite the Greens onto TV and be included in the leaders debates.

It is the latest move in the Green’s campaign to be included in the debates after Ofcom decided the party was not prominent enough to qualify for airtime alongside Nigel Farage, Nick Clegg, Ed Miliband and David Cameron.

The poster comes just days after it was revealed that the Greens have surpassed both Ukip’s and the Liberal Democrat’s party membership numbers, signing over 2,000 new members a day.

Membership for the combined UK Green Parties currently stands at 47,969 and Ms Bennet told London Live last Thursday that “there was an hour yesterday when a new person was joining every 10 seconds”.

The Prime Minister has taken a strong stance on the issue and vowed that if the Greens are excluded from the TV debates ahead of this year’s General Election, he will not be present either.

His decision has been fiercely opposed by Labour, Ukip and the Lib Dems, while the Deputy Prime Minster has declared that the televised debates will happen, despite Mr Cameron’s continual refusal to be a part of them.

Ms Bennett has since written to Mr Miliband, Mr Clegg and Mr Farage urging the three leaders to back the growing calls from the public for the Greens to be included in the TV debates.
