Latest Tory attack on Jeremy Corbyn: Choosing the veggie option at a buffet was his 'toughest decision' before he became Labour leader

Tory minister Anna Soubry says one of Jeremy Corbyn's biggest problems is that he 'doesn’t seem to have ever done a job'

He has been described as a “threat to national security,” accused of being a “terrorist-sympathiser” and branded a “Britain-hating” leader of the Labour party.

But the latest Tory attack on Jeremy Corbyn targets his vegetarianism and his apparent lack of experience in making tough decisions.

“The biggest decision he’s probably ever made is what the veggie option would be at the buffet after the Outer Mongolian Basket-weavers Solidarity meeting,” Tory business minister Anna Soubry said in an interview with the House magazine.

In a more serious assessment of Mr Corbyn's leadership, Ms Soubry said that although he was offering a new approach to politics, it was an alternative that was "rejected decades ago".

“It is quite remarkable. I find myself transported back to the 60s and the 70s with these old debates," she said.

Ms Soubry, who worked as a TV presenter and then a criminal barrister before entering Parliament as MP for Broxtowe in 2010, said a weak Labour party was bad for democracy in the UK.

“They are in a very bad place. I want a credible, strong Labour Party. That sounds bizarre of course because many pundits are saying at this rate we’re going to be in power for the next 10 or 20 years.

“But you need good, strong opposition. It’s good for democracy because it’s about holding the Government to account," she added.
