Sadiq Khan has unveiled his campaign video in the hope that he will be elected the next Mayor of London.

A theme consistent throughout is Mr Khan’s local roots - he visits the hospital he was born in and the south London council estate he grew up in.

“Having a council house meant that my parents could work hard and save up to buy a house of their own.”

“But it’s much harder today. The housing crisis has gone from bad to worse – I have a real plan to fix the housing crisis making sure that new homes that you and your family can afford are built.”

Mr Khan also emphasises his family connections.

“My Dad was a bus driver. He would have been so proud that I was appointed Transport minister in Government.”

“I have a fully-funded plan to freeze the amount you pay for fares – it means you won’t pay a penny more in 2020 than you do today.”

The video concludes by stating a vote for the Labour candidate is a vote for "a secure home you can afford, good jobs with decent pay, a modern and affordable transport system, an NHS that puts patients first, fantastic state schools and real action to reduce crime.”

Londoners go to the polls on 5 May to elect a new Mayor of London.
