LOTTERY: Children under 16 are to be banned from buying National Lottery tickets, Peter Brooke, the Secretary of State for National Heritage, said. Sales will also be prohibited on the street, in homes, in betting shops, at racecourses, in amusement arcades and in bingo or gaming clubs.

DOLPHINS: The Government is taking several measures to protect dolphins, Lord Arran, the environment minister, said. It is supporting an international population and distribution survey, research on how to stop dolphins swimming into fishing nets, and an analysis of death causes.

WHOOPING COUGH: This winter cases are exceptionally low, Tom Sackville, the health minister, said. High immunis ation meant notifications last year were one-third of those in the last comparable year of the disease's cycle.

OFFICE MOVE: The Department of Transport is to move from Marsham Street, Westminster, to nearby Horseferry Road in autumn next year, John MacGregor, Secretary of State for Transport, said.
