COAL SUBSIDY: The Government is to continue the concessionary coal scheme after privatisation of the coal industry at a cost to the taxpayer of about pounds 1.5bn, Tim Eggar, the Minister for Energy, said. 'The Government believes that these proposals meet in full its commitment to safeguard the entitlements of past and present employees of British Coal and their dependants to concessionary fuel or cash-in-lieu after privatisation.'

AGENCY REVIEW: A review of the Medicines Control Agency will be carried out by early 1995, Tom Sackville, Under-secretary of State for Health, said.
