SECURITY: Three Labour MPs questioning the cost of security measures at the homes of ministers following disclosures about security work at the home of John Gummer, the Minister for Agriculture, were told by Antony Newton, Leader of the House of Commons, last night: 'It is not in the public interest to disclose or aid the identification of security arrangements relating to public figures.'

ENTERTAINING: Spending by the MoD on official entertainment was pounds 4m last year, Archie Hamilton, Armed Forces Minister, told Tony Banks (Lab, Newham North West). The Department of Social Security spent pounds 92,000.
