THEATRE TICKETS: Resellers of tickets will have to tell consumers the standard of the seat and its face value under regulations put out to consult ation, Patrick McLoughlin, under- secretary of state, said.

CRIME: In the year to 31 March, 97.6 per cent of cases brought by the Crown Prosecution Service in magistrates' courts resulted in a guilty plea or a conviction, Sir Nicholas Lyell, the Attorney General, said.

LENIENCY: Of the 19 references determined in the last 12 months by the Court of Appeal, 16 have resulted in an increased sentence, Derek Spencer, the Solicitor General, said.
