(First Edition) Conference Costs: Policing measures, including steel fences, sniffer dogs, surveillance equipment and armed police, at the Conservative Party conference in Bournemouth last week cost pounds 2.6m, David Maclean, the Home Office minister revealed. Labour's Blackpool conference cost pounds 90,000 to police and the Liberal Democrat gathering in Brighton, pounds 3,500.
