ABUSE INVESTIGATION: A top QC, Nicola Davies, is to head an investigation into child abuse in children's homes in north Wales, John Redwood, Secretary of State for Wales, announced. The probe follows a long-running investigation by police into sexual and physical abuse of children in care. Former staff members at the now closed Bryn Estyn children's home near Wrexham, Clwyd, were subsequently convicted. Mr Redwood said in a Commons written reply that Miss Davies would be advising him as to whether further steps needed to be taken. He said he would publish her recommendations and the reasons for them.
