The pregnant former lover of David Blunkett was being treated in hospital last night after collapsing from stress linked to revelations of her affair with the Home Secretary.

Kimberly Quinn, 43, who is seven months pregnant, was admitted to St Mary's Hospital in Paddington on her doctor's orders on Monday evening after collapsing in a bathroom at the Mayfair home she shares with her husband, Stephen Quinn, and her two-year-old son, William. Mr Quinn said that her condition was not serious, but he did not know when she would be discharged. He added that he feared the stress surrounding the controversy could harm the baby, due in February.

"I have a wife who is vomiting, she is sick, she is losing weight," he earlier told The Daily Telegraph . "God forbid this brings on a premature baby."

The health of Mrs Quinn has reportedly been under strain as a result of the disputed paternity of her son and her unborn child.

The paternity of both has been cast in doubt by the controversy sparked by the demise of the three-year relationship between Mrs Quinn and Mr Blunkett.

Mr Quinn has emphasised that the health of Mrs Quinn and her unborn baby is the most important issue at present. Her doctor has reportedly advised that any moves to establish paternity should be stopped until after the birth of the baby early next year.
