AN OXFORD finalist was found hanged shortly before she was due to return to college, writes Marianne Macdonald.

Pamela Wray, 21, who was studying modern languages at St Hilda's College, was found dead by her father at the family home in Headington, Oxford. An inquest will open today.

Three months ago Tracey Cole, 18, a first-year English student at Lady Margaret Hall hanged herself days after arriving at Oxford, and earlier this month Henry Skelton, 21, a fine art student at New College, fell to his death from a window while under the influence of LSD.

Yesterday, the Oxford coroners' court recorded an open verdict at an inquest into his death.
