Tax scheme fails
Fred Trull, 67, clerk of the ancient Cornish Stannary tin miners' parliament, lost his legal battle in the House of Lords to establish that a scheme to avoid paying the poll tax by buying shares in one of his tin mines is legal, based on a ruling by Henry VII.
