The water-powered cliff railway which opened yesterday at the Centre for Alternative Technology at Machynlleth, Powys. Visitors arriving at the car park at the bottom of the cliff enter an 18-seat carriage which is then pulled up to the centre at the top as its twin, carrying a tank full of water, is allowed to slide down
