Some – perhaps more socially useful – gongs do not get the coverage they deserve. Time to put that right. Here, then, are The Other Awards of the year

The final beach hut opening of the calendar was an incredible art installation by ex-KLF member and local artist Jimmy Cauty. Calendar organiser Martin Poole explains: 'The concept was that hut 234 contained the light of God in all its awesomeness and holy majesty. Because this light is so blinding and amazing the hut doors could only be open a little, sending a beam of light across the seafront and out to sea.' Glowsticks were also handed out to everybody to create even more light to welcome the birth of Christ. Hundreds of people turned up to celebrate the end of this very successful and very special advent calendar.
