The parents of a 17-year-old girl who was murdered near her home in Staffordshire last month made an emotional appeal to the public yesterday to help catch her killer.

Heather Tell, a dance student, was asphyxiated as she walked from her home in Tamworth, to meet a friend in a nearby park. Since the murder on 25 August, police say they have had more than 500 calls from the public and are still following up various lines ofinquiry.

Peter Tell, Heather's father, said yesterday: "We will carry this with us forever. Life will never be the same. So many celebrations like Christmas and birthdays will now be marred because Heather's not here.

"We'll never see her get married or have children. There are so many things we won't share together. A big part of our lives is missing forever."
